Chiropractic focuses on the nervous system to help it function better. Each adjustment is part of a training program that addresses bad habits and stuck patterns in your nervous system. A course of chiropractic care serves to retrain, re-educate and coach your body to better neurological function.

Your chiropractic visit will consist of chiropractic adjustments, gentle joint mobilizations and hands-on muscle release therapy. Our goal is for you to feel calmer and more relaxed, have greater mobility and less discomfort than when you arrived.

While short-term chiropractic care is good at decreasing symptoms of pain and discomfort, our enjoyment comes from seeing the amazing changes that can happen in your body with regular, ongoing care. We notice with regular chiropractic adjustments, you get better faster and stay healthier longer.

Although our chiropractors’ have a toolbox of chiropractic styles, if you are looking for a gentle approach to chiropractic care, we are your place!

Massage Therapy is the manipulation of the soft tissues of the body including muscles, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments and joints. Massage therapy helps alleviate the soft tissue discomfort associated with everyday and occupational stresses, muscular over-use and many chronic pain conditions. If employed early enough after accidents involving trauma and injury, massage therapy can greatly reduce the development of painful muscular patterning. Massage therapy can help in the following conditions: inflammatory conditions such as arthritis and tendonitis, stress relief, headaches and migraines, muscle and related conditions such as spasms, strains and sprains, back pain, pregnancy discomfort, and post-injury and post-surgical rehabilitation.

Massage may be covered by most extended insurance plans. Check your plan to see if you are covered or if you require a doctor’s note before starting care.

Naturopathic Medicine is a philosophy and practice of health care that encourages the healing potential of the body and mind through the use of natural therapies. Naturopathic medicine is a fusion of traditional wisdom and modern scientific study with an emphasis on patient-centered care. Your Naturopathic care will be individualized to meet your needs, to prevent and treat disease, and to help you achieve your goals for amazing, vibrant health.

Our naturopath uses a variety of natural therapies to support health and encourage healing. Working integrally with your other health care providers, our naturopath builds her treatments on the cornerstone of a healthy, nutritious diet and active lifestyle. Additional therapies such as acupuncture, botanical (herbal medicine), nutritional supplementation and homeopathy may also be used to nourish the body and help you be your best, balanced, healthiest self.

The initial consultation is 90 minutes in length (60 minutes for children). During the initial intake an extensive health history is taken – emphasis is put on your current symptoms, past symptoms, diet, lifestyle, personal and family medical history and obstacles to optimal health. A physical exam is also performed in the first visit and laboratory testing may be requested. At the end of the initial consultation you will have an outline of your treatment plan – first steps to be taken, goals for treatment, a guiding vision for future steps and recommendations for how to monitor progress. Follow up consults are 30-45 minutes in length and are scheduled according to your individualized treatment plan. During a follow up visit you will discuss short and long term treatment goals, build on your successes and develop plans to overcome any obstacles to health. On-going monitoring of symptoms and, when indicated, laboratory testing will also be completed.

Naturopathic Medicine is regulated in Ontario by the Regulated Health Practitioners Act (RHPA) and College of Naturopaths of Ontario (CONO). Naturopathic Medicine is covered by most extended insurance plans. Contact your insurance provider to check for your coverage.

Cold Laser Therapy is a fast, effective, safe and non-intrusive form of pain relief and accelerated healing. Much of the effectiveness lies in the ability to trigger the body to heal itself. Cold red light on a targeted site of the body stimulates the production of energy within the cell which fuels cell repair and regeneration. The laser “jump starts” the healing process and since the laser used operates within a specific wavelength range that is non thermal (the “therapeutic window”) there is no risk of tissue damage or other complications.

There are many conditions to treat with cold laser. Our favourites are chronic joint pain, tendon and muscle strains, soft tissue injuries, arthritis, bursitis, plantar fasciitis, disc herniations or bulges and rotator cuff injuries. These are among the most popular but we have also had great results with concussion symptoms, tinnitus, migraines and wound healing.

We introduced Cold Laser Therapy in the spring of 2014 and haven’t looked back! We feel strongly about the positive results we have received and synergetic benefits with chiropractic, massage therapy and acupuncture treatments.

Craniosacral Therapy is based on understanding that the continuous subtle movements of the cranial bones result in a very subtle rhythm. This rhythm is understood as a response to cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) flow within the spinal cord and brain environment. A craniosacral therapist gently works with the spine and the skull, its cranial sutures, diaphragms, and fascia.

Using a hands on approach therapists are able to detect disturbances in the rhythm to help them identify areas of dysfunction, such as cranial, sutural, membrane and other soft tissue restrictions in the body. The work can address physical aches and pains, acute and chronic disease or simply developing well-being and vitality. Craniosacral Therapy is so gentle that it is suitable for babies, children, and the elderly, as well as adults; and also in fragile or acutely painful conditions.

There are other situations — such as jaw dysfunctions, migraines, concussions, fibromyalgia, degenerative neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s — in which, Craniosacral Therapy may be useful as an adjunct treatment or an alternative to be included in a comprehensive management program.

Your feet are the foundation for your entire body. Even the slightest misalignment of the bones and muscles can cause a lot of discomfort. These minor misalignments alter the dynamics of how your feet connect with the ground, then carry up the chain of your body.

Functional foot orthotics are specialized medical devices and designed to be placed in a shoe. They support, align, or improve the function of the foot with each movement of the foot with the ground. Foot orthotics have been used in the treatment of various sports related injuries where overuse symptoms may occur, but people also find them helpful for day to day walking or standing. They remove the abnormal stress and strains on the foot and ankle, alleviating pressure on sensitive areas of the foot.

It’s important to note that orthotics DO NOT cure your foot problem, any more than glasses cure your vision problems. They may however help alleviate the following physical symptoms: tired and aching feet, plantar fasciitis, shin splints, knee pain, hip pain and low back pain.

Orthotics can last anywhere from six months to a couple of years. Many factors affect their wear and tear, which is why regular reviews are important. Functional foot orthotics, just like shoes, do wear out and do need replacing from time to time.

If you think custom orthotics could help you, you can set up a consult with one of our chiropractors to discuss your symptoms and potential solutions. Obtaining and consistently wearing prescription functional foot orthotics could be the best investment you can make from your feet up!

Before booking your orthotic fitting please make sure you have checked your insurance that orthotics can be dispensed by a chiropractor. Most insurance companies also request a medical doctors note. Please check your insurance’s specifics.

Animals can benefit from chiropractic as well. It can be difficult for pet owners to know if their "fur baby" could use care but in general pets suffering from stiffness, arthritis, sports injuries, periods of cage rest or confinement and post-surgical soreness can benefit tremendously.

Your pet may also give you signs that something isn’t right. If your pet is limping inexplicably, avoids previously enjoyable activities, yelps when touched or groomed, avoids going up/down stairs or jumping up/off the furniture or simply seems to have shown a change in mood or behaviour, he or she may benefit from a chiropractic adjustment.

It is important to note that chiropractic is not an alternative to veterinary care, but rather a complement to it. Optimally, the chiropractor and veterinarian can work as a team to provide the most integrative care possible for your pet.

He studied at Sutherland-Chan School of Massage Therapy and received the Sutherland-Chan Professional Clinics Award upon graduating in 2010. He furthered his studies at MacMaster University, where he earned a certificate in Contemporary Acupuncture and provides acupuncture care in addition to his massage appointments to further enhance his clients wellness goals.

Keith has managed a Sutherland Chan location, that he has been a teacher to many massage therapists that have worked at Oma previously which only made us endear him more. I work with individuals over 18, who are going through difficult life events such as (but not limited to) infertility, infidelity, separation, career changes, etc. With that comes the pain, anxiety, and uncertainty of what’s on the other side.

I meet my clients with warmth, authenticity, and without judgment, to create a safe space to explore and provide support as you share challenging situations and feelings.

My goal is to help my clients move through these transitions and/or relationship challenges with the right support. To gently guide them to find the strength within themselves in a way that feels meaningful or to help them build the confidence needed to move out of situations that are no longer serving them.

My approach is relational and humanistic and is as unique as each individual I sit with. I work with the whole person and lead with curiosity - I am interested in who you are in the present moment and what it is that would bring you a sense of safety, security, and joy. There is no one size fits all in my practice.

Prior to becoming a chiropractor, I trained as a Reflexolgist, Reiki Therapist and Yoga teacher, all of which I find ways to incorporate into my practice. It was the study of yoga that peaked my interest in the body, which grew into my interest of chiropractic.

I work as a chiropractor now because I love its ideals about what it means to be healthy. The idea that through input to our system we can be more body aware, become more flexible to change, more resilient and we are able to interact with the world from a place of intended actions rather than reactions.

My training in a myriad of different techniques provides me with an openness to the workings of the human body. My toolbox includes certifications in Reflexology, Craniosacral Therapy, and Acupuncture. My training with International Pediatric Chiropractic Association has provided me with a passion and love for prenatal care and care for children of all sizes. I hold a certification in the Webster technique (for breech pregnancies).

In 2006, I became a doula (birth support) to further my interest in working with pregnant women and children. It has become such a part of my practice and my life; birth has a way of putting life very quickly into perspective.

John is a graduate of Sutherland-Chan School of Massage and has been working as a therapist for 16 years. During his time in the field, he has gained extensive experience in understanding lower back pain and pelvic alignment by working extensively with prenatal clients and athletes in gait-related activities.

In addition to the Swedish massage learned during school and the fascial techniques acquired from Tom Myers’ courses, John is trained in the advanced methods of the Barral Institute. He also learned fascial stretches and ELDOA self-care techniques, which can help augment the treatment session and help clients achieve long term results.

Currently, John specializes in working with the “Conductor” of the body, the nervous system and the gut. Subtle treatment of the nervous system and organs may help underlying conditions by encouraging equilibrium in the system. This precise approach may often help conditions such as GERDS, IBS, endometriosis, menses and dysmenorrhea.
